Ngong Ping 360 in Lantau Island, Hongkong

Friday, September 19, 2014

Hello! Again, this is your alien blogger writing a post in continuation of her invasion trip in Hongkong. For the second day, we went to Ngong Ping in the morning, a place in Lantau Island that hosts the Big Buddha, Po Lin Monastery and the Ngong Ping village. We rode by bus from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping for 23HKD or 27HKD (I forgot) and by cable car going back but of course you can use the cable car of going back `n forth.

Big Buddha bears its name. It`s really big you feel like an ant below him. But of course, don`t be afraid, he will not step on you. LOL. Before seeing him, up-close and personal, you are challenge to climb hundreds of steps. For acrophobics, beware, or you might want to face your fear, you might not know, after this, you might be "afraid of heights no more". Upstairs, you can view a 360 degree panorama of the beautiful island.
Lacking of time, below is our picture for our glimpse of the Po Lin monastery.
And head we go to the NP village where all the shops, cafes,  and restaurants can be found. We had some souvenir shopping for low, low prizes and had our lunch before heading to our next stop. We had some noodles with dumplings. Of course, if you say Hongkong, you should try to eat dimsum. A definitely thing to do while in Hongkong.
After we fed our hungry tummies, we went ahead to ride the cable car going back to Tung Chung to start our journey towards our next stop... The ride takes 24 minutes from Ngong Ping to the Tung Chung cable car terminal. It`s a 24-minute, 5km ride where you can see the whole Lantau island and Hongkong island from above. It was a fun, thrill ride that every tourist should try in Hongkong. By the way, you can choose between a standard or crystal cabin. The only difference is that the crystal cabin has a glass floor where you can see what`s below. But of course, crystal cabin is much more higher in terms of prize though. For a frugal traveler, we tried the standard cabin. For cable car fares, you can visit their website HERE, as it may change without prior notice.
Leaving you with this "peace" sign if ever I can`t post ASAP where our next stop is. But don`t worry, I will, by any means. Talk to you soon! Leave me your comments or questions!
